Geoff Matthews Gala

GEOFF MATTHEWS GALA

Our first Gala was sponsored by Geoff Matthews with a magnificent trophy was held on 30th July 2023.

14 teams competed for the trophy on what started out as a dry day with but with threats of rain looming.  It was a great day with magnificent bowling (and some not so magnificent!) but plenty of good fun and cameraderie.  We intended to play 4 rounds but in the end the rain came in after lunch and the day was ended after 3.      A presentation was then led by our Chairman with Geoff Matthews presenting the winers with the trophy and informing members of his  long standing family relationship with the Club.

Ian Hulley won the spider and a magnificent bottle of scotch also donated by Geoff .  The Gala winners were Ivan Coleman, Pam Bond and Sue Burbidge with close runners up Michael Scandrett, Libby Parker and Tracy Woods.  Well done to them and all the teams for a great day.

The Day raised over £525 for Charity being sent to Cancer Research.   That money came from entry fees, spider money, donations, sales of light refreshments (that had been donated) and a fabulous raffle.  Well done to everyone who organised it all.

Let's all look forward to the Geoff Matthews Gala 2024!
